ZHOB:
Enraged masses blocked Zhob-Quetta highway by setting tyres ablaze against load-shedding, low voltage and water shortage.
According to details, hundreds of residents of Radio Station Muhalla blocked Zhob-Quetta road by setting tyres ablaze to protest against prolonged power outages, low voltage and water shortage in the area. Protesters blocked the highway for five hours and threw the traffic out of gear. They chanted slogans against QESCO officials.
Addressing the protesters, Shah Gul Din Advocate said “the people of Zhob are fed up with the long duration and unscheduled load-shedding. The children and women are facing a lot of problems and business of Zhob is totally destroyed, adding that power tripping has crippled the commercial activities besides the exacerbating the grievances of common men, but the government is not devising any comprehensive policy to get rid of this menace. The elected representatives also remain silent spectators in this regard. Load-shedding has now swelled to 18 hours a day”. He maintained.
He further said that frequent power suspension had caused several problems for the people and unavailability of water had become a major issue in the district. “QESCO authorities have started sucking the blood of masses by sending heavy bills despite power tripping and unscheduled load-shedding”. He added.
The protesters threatened to go to violent, if the QESCO authorities failed to improve the situation.
