The presidents of all the district bar associations met in Swat to take stock of the situation that emerged after the implementation of Nizam-e-Adl Regulation. The TNSM has said lawyers would not be allowed to represent litigants in courts.
Lawyers’ representatives from Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Malakand, Swat, Buner and Shangla participated in the meeting. They deliberated the assertion of the TNSM that lawyers had no place in Nizam-e-Adl. TNSM spokesman Amir Izzat said the lawyers would not appear in courts.
Arguments through lawyers is un-Islamic and against Shariah and will not be allowed, he warned. He said petitions were filed, replies submitted and arguments made through lawyers in the erstwhile civil courts but it would not be allowed in Qazi courts.
Litigants will make arguments on their own. If anyone wants to write a petition or reply by lawyers, they can do so, he said. He added that the purpose behind Nizam-e-Adl was to provide inexpensive and speedy justice to people. Meanwhile, son of a transporter, Malack Iqbal Rawn Khan, was kidnapped from Mingawara. Kidnappings have not tapered off, but increased even after the peace agreement.
