RE: Why Isn’t the UN Investigating and Prosecuting the U.S. and NATO for War Crimes Committed in Afghanistan?
Dear Secretary Ki-Moon:
There can be no peace in Afghanistan without justice for the Afghan people; there can be no justice unless the perpetrators of war crimes against the Afghans are prosecuted. The Afghan people want peace and reconciliation, but first they need their independence and justice.
U.S. PFC Bradley Manning did the right thing when he leaked the war logs to Wikileaks which revealed the war crimes. You need to do the right thing and make sure these war crimes are investigated and prosecuted. Shame on you for not prosecuting the war crimes committed against the Afghan people. Wikileaks and PFC Bradley Manning are doing the UN’s job.
It is time for the United Nations to do its job – bringing war criminals to justice. First, you must investigate all of the war crimes committed by the United States under the Bush and Obama Administrations, by NATO and by the Afghan puppet government and its warlords against the Afghan people. Second, you must appoint a Special Prosecutor to start the legal process. Finally, you must establish a special war crimes tribunal to prosecute the war criminals including the architects and commanders of the war on Afghanistan. Why has your organization not prosecuted war crimes committed against the Afghan people?
The United Nations was established to bring peace and justice in the world, resolve conflicts and prosecute war crimes. International war crimes tribunals have been brought for Bosnia, Kosova, Rwanda and the Jewish people. Yet, there has never been a tribunal to prosecute the war criminals that committed crimes against the Afghans since 1979 to the present. Why? Is there a difference between a Jewish victim and an Afghan victim?
The United States and NATO are killing Afghans and committing war crimes when they use drones, cluster bombs, DU bombs (uranium munitions, energy weapons and microwave bombs) against the Afghan people-the majority are Pashtun villagers. These uranium munitions are causing the Afghan people’s children to be born deformed or dead with strange birth defects. Why is the UN too blind to see these war crimes? Are you only worried about pleasing the United States and Great Britain? Are you only worried about appearances and financial benefits? The UN is the problem. Maybe UN officials need to be prosecuted for concealing war crimes.
Stop covering up and ignoring the evidence of war crimes. It is obvious that you have been ignoring war crimes committed against Afghans especially the ethnic majority, the Pashtun. Although many other human rights organizations and Afghans , including myself, have presented evidence of war crimes before the recent Wikileaks war logs disclosure, you and your organization have failed to take any action to investigate and prosecute those responsible for those war crimes. Instead of doing your job, you, your staff, and the Special UN Envoys to Afghanistan have closed your eyes to these war crimes and you are only wining and dining with these criminals.
Along with the United Nations failure to do its job, The United States has conducted a propaganda campaign since the Wikileaks War Logs disclosure. The U.S. Government, the CIA , the war profiteers, and Northern Alliance have been using the major American media to distract the American public from thinking about the significance of the Wikileaks war logs, which reveal numerous and systemic war crimes by the United States and NATO. The U.S. has timely placed pro-war, anti-Afghan Muslim, anti-Pashtun stories and photos in the media. The American people and the world are bombarded by these pro-war images in hopes that they forget about the war crimes exposed by the Wikileaks disclosure. Almost all references to Wikileaks War Logs disclosure immediately disappeared because the United States wants to stop its citizens and the world from questioning its actions and behavior.
A few recent examples of this propaganda by the United States to distract the world from the war crimes are; on the recent cover of Time Magazine there was a photo of an Afghan women, Aisha, with her nose cut off with the caption,” What happens if we leave Afghanistan?” (I am sorry for her suffering, but her photo was being used by the United States as anti-Muslim propaganda to counter the WikiLeaks disclosure), a Canadian Afghan, model, singer and dancer, of Tajik background, Mozhda Jamalzadah (whose father was pro-communist) sang and danced without hijab at the White House Women’s Day event (the taping of her dance was released to the media immediately after the disclosure).The United States knows it is losing the war in Afghanistan and its war crimes are being revealed. Therefore, the White House, the CIA and the U.S. State Department’s modus operandi is to resort to this type of propaganda tactics to district the American public and the world. The United Nations needs to be independent and ignore the desires of the Obama Administration and the western controlled media.
Apparently, the world needs more groups like Wikileaks to investigate war crimes instead of your worthless human rights organization. I hope you have the courage, independence and will to establish an independent tribunal to prosecute these war crimes committed by the United States, NATO and others against the Afghan people. Do you have the courage and will like PFC Bradley Manning to do the right thing for the Afghan people and do your job? If not, please you and Special Representative to Afghanistan De Mistura resign.
Without justice there can be no peace.
