Protest Continues at Angoor Adda Against Passport and Visa Requirements on #Durand_Line
Residents along the Durand Line in #AngoorAdda have been holding a sit-in Parlat for over 13 months against the enforcement of passport and visa requirements between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Today 15 nov. 2024 Leading commitee of the protest, expressing the frustration of the local population, warned that their patience is running out, and they are ready to take action against the fence on Durand line and Pakistani gates.
Saddar Rasool, a member of the sit-in’s leadership, stated that, at the request of leader Manzoor Pashteen and the 80-member national council, they will delay major decisions until next week. However, Rasool hinted that if no solution is reached in coordination with the council, tougher measures and a new plan will be announced.
#Afghans comunities on both sides of the Durand Line are made up of families and friends who have long-standing ties, with many villages and even individual households divided by the fence.
Analysts have criticized Pakistan’s policies, alleging that by enforcing a visa and passport regime along with the fencing, Pakistan is contributing to the economic and social isolation of this ethnic group.
