US’s Witch-hunts; &Taliban suicides

By: Qaribur Rahman Saeed

While mourning every day’s killing, including the mass killing of Balablok in Farah, in the southwest of Afghanistan by the US led coalition, there are more shocking news of suicide bombing of the innocent people in Pakistan.

The most congested markets and bazaars of Peshawar city were shattered by the Taliban, whereas tens of the ordinary people alongside the children and women were sent to their destiny. The most dreadful and shocking was the news that, the Taliban proudly and arrogantly got the responsibility for these entire massacres.

According to a well known Islamic scholar, Abdul Rauf Safi, based in Europe, the suicide bombing which causes the killing of innocent people is all-out prohibited in Islam and who so ever commits it, well be punished on doomsday.

Therefore, the bombing of the density areas and well populated markets by whosoever, is neither permits by Islamic ideology nor by our ethics. The reality is; Islam means peace, prosperity, stability, and brotherhood and not vice-versa.

Regretfully, this carnage, which is encouraged by the US military commanders in the region, is systematically ignored in the western world especially by the US administration, where the govt. portrays a war in which there are no civilian deaths , but only “insurgents”?

As a matter of fact, this carnage and mass killing is started by the war mongering administration of the Gorge W. Bush on the behest of the Jews state of Israel, in 2001. The aim was and still is to bulldoze the so-called “Islamofascists?!” and to spread the crusader of the cress, by eliminating the very basic fundamentals of Islam under the name of extremism and grabbing the natural resources of the central Asia through occupying Afghanistan. Besides; the Denuclearization of Pakistan, the only Islamic country with Nuclear Power, was and still is the strong desire of both ,Jews and Hindus, which could be fulfill by the US led coalition if the authorities act according to their orders.

The Jews foreign minister, in his first day of assuming office, declared the two countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan most menacing to the Jews state than the Nuclear Iran.

Meanwhile, Mullah Sufi Mohammad, the leader of the Shariat movement in Sawat valley lost the best opportunity, Allah almighty had granted to him for the implementation of Sharia law, in the valley. The National Awamy Party govt. in Pakhtoonkhwa, and the central govt. of PPP, both secular in ideology, had given Sufi Mohammad a chance to establish a model of the Sharia law. But all these chances were missed. And now Sufi Mohammad along with his followers is wandering in the mountains of the valley.

The fruit of Talibanisation for the region was misery, frustration and destroying the peaceful environment and honorable life of the people of the area. Nevertheless, they have been compelled to beg and fight for a bit of bread. Besides their crops were destroyed it the time of harvesting and their property were demolished.

No one can ignore the hands of the conspirators behind this big game. Actually this game is started by the occupiers of Afghanistan. To digest the occupation, they need to destabilize the region with bulldozing the biggest tribe of Pashtoons in both side of the Durand line.

Nevertheless, the Pakistani nation is burning in the fire which is ignited by their own intelligence agency with cooperation of CIA, as president Zardari himself admitted. If the Pakistani Policy makers had helped the Afghan Mujahedeen after the Soviet withdrawal, there wouldn’t have been such horrible situation in both of the neighboring countries as we are facing now.

While the US administration has started to implement the new strategy announced by president Barak Obama, on 27th march 2009, for (Af-Pak), Afghanistan and Pakistan, by sending thousands of armed forces to the embattled Afghanistan, the internal fighting in both the neighboring countries has been intensified. In Pakistan these brutalities and turmoil started by the adamant Taliban militants, whereas in Afghanistan the real cause for all these mass killing and destruction is the continued existence of the occupiers. The disenfranchisement of the Pashtoon ethnicity is deliberately continued by the big players. Hundreds of innocent civilians have been killed, and millions have been uprooted from their residence and settled in the refugee camps.

According to political analysts, the Taliban are being plied in the hands of the occupiers for their own heinous and hegemonic designs. The weaponry they use is provided by the US led coalition as AFP reported on – Thu Feb 12, 2:40 pm ET, by Jitendra Joshi.

“Thousands of US weapons, including assault rifles and grenade launchers, may be in Taliban or Al-Qaeda hands in Afghanistan. “The report says,”The Pentagon has failed to track an estimated 87,000 weapons given to Afghan security forces, one-third of the 242,000 shipped by the US government between December 2004 and June 2008.” “A 46-page report by the GAO, the non-partisan investigative arm of Congress, said there had been no monitoring of a further 135,000 weapons donated by NATO allies to the poorly paid and corruption-rife Afghan army and police.”

How foolish on the earth can believe the US report about the thievery? Was the delivery of weapons to the so-called Taliban in Helmand province by the British air force also a thievery? Or the aim was just to provide them with stuff for justifying the prolongation of their existence and making the ground available for sending more troops to the region. According to the report “Aside from M-16 rifles, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and mortars, the GAO report found inadequate oversight of 2,410 night-vision goggles” had also been lost.

The same tactic had been used by the US army in Iraq, where they provide hundreds of thousands weapons to Shia religious sect, for increasing the internal fighting among the Sunni and Shia. As the report further ads: “The report mirrored GAO findings in August 2007 that the Pentagon had lost track of nearly 200,000 weapons given to security forces in Iraq.”

The results of the delivery of sophisticated weaponry to the so-called insurgents may provide and increased the chance of the occupiers to destabilize the region, however, according to previous experiences; it seems that, they would find it difficult to fulfill their dreams for remaining in the region forever.

Actually, the region witnessed the first suicide after the invasion of the US led coalition in Afghanistan. Besides, this invasion has given the sore fruits of carnage and mass killing which have no cure. According to an American analyst Robert Pape’, who says: “it is hollow, Islamic fundamentalism is not closely associated with suicide terrorism as many think. For from making us safer against terrorism, military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq has stimulated suicide terrorists and has given it a new lease on life.” And we practically witness all these unfortunate facts in the battlefields of both the neighboring countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

So what would be achieved by all these unscrupulous military operations against the most insecure and vulnerable, poor civilians by the occupiers? Simply suicides….

President Obama’s new strategy “of change” has turned to be a tragedy for the people of the (afpak). Though, the two countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan have different geopolitical situations. Afghanistan is directly occupied by the US army, while Pakistan is under the order of the US. Nevertheless, the tragedy of the people would be increased with sending 21000 more military might to the already embattled Afghanistan.

As a matter of fact, the Killing and bombing of the civilians by the occupation forces in Afghanistan makes every day’s Headlines. Whereas, the US and NATO led coalition claim the killing of insurgence, but the local say the preyed are “the civilians”.

While working on this article, Pajhwok news agency reported that: 34 armed Taliban (!!?) have been killed during operation of US-led coalition in southeastern Paktika province last night . Meanwhile in Kunar province seven Afghan civilians were killed by mortars firing. 20 others were killed in Paktia. “Attack helicopters were called in to engage the insurgents and protect the ground forces.”

All these incidents happened within few hour of times. No one knows what had been occurred in the rest of the country. Where the total number of killed is being exceeds from a hundred persons. This is the everyday hunting hobby of US led coalition under the “Operation Enduring Freedom.”

Nevertheless, with the increase of the US military personal, the real social life of the Afghan people would be more devastating. For the time being civilian life could be seen as;

“A coalition convoy warned the Afghans to slow down and move their vehicle away by discharging a flare. The vehicle slowed and moved away, but then approached the convoy in a manner that again appeared threatening. Personnel in the convoy discharged two more flares to warn the vehicle, and then fired one warning shot from a small arms rifle. It added after the vehicle continued to pose an apparent threat, the convoy fired two more shots, killing one Afghan and wounding another”.

In another incident On May 3, 12-year-old Benafsha Shaheen who was traveling with family members from her village in western Farah province to a wedding party in the neighboring province of Herat. Packed into a white Toyota Corolla wagon, they neared the outskirts of the city of Herat when, according to a report compiled by the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, the vehicle was fired on by an Italian patrol convoy. Benafsha was seated in the middle of the backseat wearing a red dress, her relatives say. She was shot in the face and died instantly. Her mother was wounded in the chest.”

The Afghan territory for the native residence of the country has already converted to a big prison like Guantanamo bay. The international law of Human rights, the international court of justice,…….,are completely silent on all these heinous atrocious acts of the occupiers. Even the killing of 147 people in Balablok of Farah province went to oblivious. Because the coalition “regrets” the incident and loss of Afghan life, and has ordered an investigation, the result of which is being buried in the files of the occupiers.

The more disgraceful and shameful is the price for a killed civilian. The price, if the killed is acknowledged by the killers as civilian, is only US $200, with a surplus of a light “sorry”.

Therefore, the political pundits and the elites of the region should jointly ask the invaders to stop the witch hunt and killing of the innocent people, and leave the people to decide themselves about their own destiny. They should also call on the Taliban to stop the wild bombing of the innocent people.
